Guinness World Record for the longest fried Pizza ever!
We set a new Guinness World Record
for the world longest fried pizza!
The fried pizza is evidence of the creativity of Neapolitan people in times of crisis. At the end of the Second World War the city was devoid of everything. Even the Neapolitan pizza had become almost a luxury: to do it
the wood fired oven was needed, and it was topped with mozzarella and tomato, which were often not found, or just too expensive. There was the need of something easy to do for those who had to sell it, and cheap for those who had to buy it. So it was that the Neapolitans invented the fried pizza, also called Pizza del Popolo – seen as the “poor sister of the baked pizza” – and it was sold on the streets by women, to round off the post-war family economy.
To emphasise this tradition, on Wednesday 23rd of May, we tried to set a new Guinness World Record. And it was made possible thanks to the collaboration of 60 of ours Pizza Chefs reaching a total of 7 meters and 15 centimeters!
